As of September 15, 2009, everyone who operates a motorized pleasure craft must have and carry proof of competency (an “operator’s card”) on board at all times. This includes a personal watercraft (PWC). Boaters are reminded to carry their card (or a copy thereof) with them at all times, as the $305 fine for failing to provide proof of competency is the same as if you did not have an operator’s card at all.
Proof of competency is not required for pleasure craft without motors.

It’s worth noting that while the authorities are checking for proof of competency they may also check for vessel registration documents. Copies of these are also supposed to be on board at all times.

The Ministry of Natural Resources is reminding us that ice fishing huts must be removed from the lake by March 15, 2010.

(We don’t usually post links to other sites, particularily entertainment sites but I am making an exception in this case. Jack)
The video that is at the end of this link shows a boat out of control. The thing to note is not what the guy was doing at the time that he lost control nor what he does afterward. The thing to note is how quickly that small craft comes around at him.
(That little lanyard attached to your motor’s killswitch is starting to look like a good idea just about now, eh?
